Bizarre story from New Jersey, where a man stands trial in federal court for seeking revenge after another man, who just so happens to have changed his name in honor of a Sonic legend, framed him in a chat room.
The whole messy affair involves an online group called Perverted Justice, which was founded by one Xavier Von Erck (and, yes, he named himself after the X-Man; his brothers, Sedale Von Erck and Detlef Von Erck, are not mentioned in the story).
Von Erck’s group targets sexual predators, garnering considerable attention for their work with Chris Hansen and NBC’s “To Catch a Predator” program.
