Has he ever gotten to the conference Semi's? No? Huh.

This is clearly team Durant. There is no room for a player like Allen who's go "Iversonian" abilities to not pass the ball to teammates.

This means that Rashard gets his deal and his shot at being a #1 guy. If he succeeds, he gets traded for something shiny, like, say, OJ Mayo. If he fails? Well, Durant can take his spot in 08-09.MRBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16933340665500287146noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7758702.post-88557446874514847692007-06-28T20:04:00.000-07:002007-06-28T20:04:00.000-07:00Trading Ray Allen--who has been the team's poster ...Trading Ray Allen--who has been the team's poster child, not to mention one of the best shooters ever in the NBA--meant one thing: Sonics are leaving Seattle. You just don't give up a player like that for some rookie and few other decent players.

The only way the Sonics have a chance of staying is to pull off one amazing season and sell a ton of tickets. Trading your franchise player isn't going to help. And Presti's rationale? Most are saying teh worst trade in Ainge's career (which is pretty scary). The questions for us are 1) Is Ray healthy 2) Will he play defense (since not many Celtics do at the moment). As much as ...I don't think this trade is THAT bad. As much as I love Ray Ray, he'll be 32 this season, and I don't know how many more all-star seasons he has left in him. Maybe two? Three, tops?

The point is, we're not even close to being a championship contender, so getting those two or three all-star seasons out of Ray is pretty much pointless. I'd rather we rebuild now by getting younger and improving our cap situation in the next couple of seasons.

I wouldn't worry so much about Wally Z. I don't think we traded for him because we thought he could replace Ray Allen on the court. His $12/$13 million contract expires next season, and I'm guessing it'll be a pretty valuable trading chip.

I dunno, I kind of like Presti's plan. The fact that he seems to have one is promising.Random-osityhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00585934625268953060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7758702.post-42336704527596464222007-06-28T19:03:00.001-07:002007-06-28T19:03:00.001-07:00While I'm admittedly not a GM, I can't fathom the ...While I'm admittedly not a GM, I can't fathom the thinking behind this. Jesus Shuttleworth, perennial all-star, for a shitty SF who doesn't even give cap relief and a rookie? I don't know much about Green, but he does play the same spot as everyone on the team who's any good. Are the Sonics angling to be the new Hawks? Does this trade even make sense for the Celtics? I love Ray Allen, but Paul Pierce seems pretty similar. Oh well. Hopefully Durant isn't damned to toiling away in OKC for all eternity.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13603304553367090790noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7758702.post-38158005944998583252007-06-28T19:03:00.000-07:002007-06-28T19:03:00.000-07:00Who's the best SF available at 31#?Who's the best SF available at 31#?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7758702.post-30780885555696132172007-06-28T18:57:00.000-07:002007-06-28T18:57:00.000-07:00We got the second and the fifth overall picks in t...We got the second and the fifth overall picks in the draft so why am I bummed?

Hey Sonics, good job at making what should be a day of celebration into a memorial service.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7758702.post-32273438459946087592007-06-28T18:52:00.000-07:002007-06-28T18:52:00.000-07:00Ray to Boston...For Wally...? A fresh superstar, who played in the south, and who will be on rookie pay for 4 years.

Then they trade Ray. It seems about as systematic and obvious as you can get.
