He has a long way to get to average as a shooter/scorer or defender and how far he goes above average will say a lot about the wisdom of Presti picking him 5th.

But let's hope he'll learn and be fine, darn fine, 5th pick fine.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7758702.post-28407982613732583072008-03-14T11:16:00.000-07:002008-03-14T11:16:00.000-07:00Play 30 minutes and the average NBA player will pu...Play 30 minutes and the average NBA player will put up on average 10+.
So if Green occassionally puts up 15 in close to that much time that is not a big deal. But he gets year 2 and 3 to show the level of his talent.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7758702.post-28261223720440529802008-03-13T21:10:00.000-07:002008-03-13T21:10:00.000-07:00Green will be fine.Green will be fine.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7758702.post-14112174533048713682008-03-13T14:40:00.000-07:002008-03-13T14:40:00.000-07:00Greens very capable of putting up maybe 15 points ...Greens very capable of putting up maybe 15 points per game this season, but alot of times he doesnt look too confident. In the few times that he actually does attack the basket hard, he's reminded me of Lebron. He's quick and tough, so nobody's going to want to take that charge.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7758702.post-15210141513052144382008-03-13T13:51:00.000-07:002008-03-13T13:51:00.000-07:00Interesting read. He has a good story here:

http://www.basketballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=227

on Basketball Prospectus about how players improved from year 1 to year 2 (and concludes that this year's batch of rookies is making last year's sluggardly bunch look like all-stars).

Makes me wonder, is it that this year's class has underperformed, or that Durant and Oden's combined star quality pulled everyone else up? Hard to say.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7758702.post-13632429073204443082008-03-13T13:27:00.000-07:002008-03-13T13:27:00.000-07:00Green ranked about 10th best on average among int...Green ranked about 10th best on average among internet pre-draft lists. Nonetheless Presti traded Allen fairly heavily to take him and implicitly or explicitly directed that PJ pair him with Durant in the starting lineup. Green's progress is a measure of Green but also of Presti's acumen. So far Sam gets a low score for the pick. If Green isn't up to near #5 pick average performance by year 3-4 the Sonics will fall short of Sam's ambitions.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
