Okur, Humphries, Palacio? Not exactly the Jazz we've come to know and hate, but they are still Utah, we're still Seattle, and we will always wish the worst to them. Especially when they come to our court and walk away with a victory.
The Sonics made a game of it after falling behind 61-44 in the third quarter - a methodology that is growing thin despite the recent spate of victories.
Bright spots? Sugar Ray and Rashard, naturally. Not much else, although Cleaves managed nine points in only 13 minutes.
Sour notes? Let's see, Da Fort managed 3 fouls, 3 turnovers, 1 board, no points in four minutes. The Center by Committee showed up late for the meeting, it appears, as Petro and the Potato (isn't that a show on PBS?) combined for 2 points and 1 rebound. Folks, when I'm using the singular to recount our center's rebounding totals we may be in trouble.
The good news is the Sonics are playing on Thanksgiving against the woeful Lakers. So far this season the Lakers have beaten Denver (twice), Atlanta, and the Knicks - and nobody else. Let's see ... national t.v., Kobe, Ray Allen, crappy Laker team - I'm guessing the over/under on Kobe's FGA around 37. Any takers?
Hmm, Kobe vs. our soft to non-existent interior defense - I see records being broken. 2 for 10 from beyond the arc from Ray just isn't going to help, either. Anyone else notice that whenever KJR interviews someone pre-game on how well they've been doing, that person ends up having an off night? Last night it was Collison. Previous victims have been Wilkens, Evans, AD (last season) & Flip (last season). OK, Flip is a given I suppose.
ReplyDeletelakers should be easy. I mean we both dont have a solid center. Our PF kick there PF a$$. The only thing that id be little shakey about is the PG match up. Parker is a little taller and kills luke on ups. Im not sure about speed but it will for sure be a good game to watch. Im guessing will see more of cleaves and vitaly for defensive reasons.
ReplyDeletedammit, yesterday's game was supposed to be ours, man. unfortunately, our shots weren't going down, our D was totally non-existent and, well...we had a lot of bad luck. :( *sigh* but that's how a ballgame goes. you win some, you lose some.
ReplyDeletebut the promise was there...like that lovely, gorgeous behind the back pass from luke to shardy in the third for a three pointer. that was a freaking thing of beauty, man. hopefully, we'll build on this loss and take it as a lesson learned. :)

ReplyDeleteIf you ask me, eating Spam is always a gamble. (I'm here all week, folks!)
ReplyDeleteHey, guess who wants to get back into the NBA? If it isn't my favorite high-flying, slam-dunking, out-of-wedlock-fathering, cocaine-using, binge-drinking ex-Sonic power forward. Yes, that's right, Shawn Kemp is attempting a comeback.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, the Seattle Times ran the same story about 2 months ago. I saw KOMO's piece on television on Monday night, and Shawn looked like he was in decent shape, but not 30-minutes-every-night kind of shape. In the Times story, Kemp completely ruled out playing in Seattle, much to my chagrin. The way this team is set up, he would actually fill a nice role as an off-the-bench big man who can score.
ReplyDeleteDagnabit! I just got done transfering the tape of that Kemp interview in my computer and was about to upload it. I guess while it's set up, maybe I'll try to transfer my ancient copy of old-school Sonics games. '88 Playoffs anyone?
ReplyDeletePaul,
ReplyDeleteHook up any old sonics games you got, I'll seed some games if you get them started.
