Goodbye Vladi, Hello Wilco

Vladimir Radmanovic was traded Tuesday night to the Clippers for Chris "Wilco" Wilcox. On behalf of everyone here at Supersonicsoul, I'd like to thank Vladi Doddi for his time in Seattle. We'll miss your rainbow threes and thunderous dunks. We will not miss your long cold stretches, creepy braids and incessant bitching.

  1. Sweet! We finally addressed our needs for another undersized, modestly talented power forward.

  2. Well, Carl, Chris Wilcox isn't an "undersized" power forward; however, he may be a "modestly talented" player.

  3. Don't know how wilcox will pan out.. but I know this. This is a better team without radmanovic. addition by subtraction, boys...

  4. 3 nice things to say about Chris Wilcox:

    1. His defense is solid, and I don't just mean, "better than Radman" solid. When he's on the court, the Clips are allowing far fewer points per possession this season.

    2. 18% of his shots are dunks. I like that.

    3. He can block shots as well as about anyone on the Sonics aside from Robert Swift.

I don't get the comparisons to O'Neal either. And don't let anyone tell you Wilcox is the next Shawn Kemp, because he's not.

To me, though, he is something the Sonics are lacking - an athletic big man who can score. Collison can score, but he can't move like Wilcox. Evans is undersized, Fortson can't move, Swift and Petro are, well, rookies, so I have to say I like this move a heckuva lot.

  5. I'm pumped about this trade. Vlady makes me sick, just a waste of size to me, too scared to rebound or mix it up in the paint. Wilcox has been on my radar since coming out of Maryland and winning the title with Dixon and Blake. Stupid ass sonics should have made sure we got Dixon now he's a stud (like I knew he would be) in PO. Whatever, I think we need to go get Conroy out of the NBDL and let that cat run the point behind Luke, Conroy is a big stocky point in the mold of Baron Davis and he plays graet defense, basically the opposite of Ridnour. I think their games compliment the others but honestly I could see Conroy taking Lukes job within a year if we do get him.

You must check this chick out.

  7. Why, does she play point?

  8. I have a feeling that Vlad will flourish at the Clippers and play like the Vlad we knew last year. I wish him well. It is amazing how someone will pick up their game with out all the drama. Miss you Vlad! We will cherish our picture we have with you at Larry's market!

  9. Yes, actually she does, she plays point on my summer league team.

  10. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that Radman will be inconsistent for the Clippers and he will walk away at the end of the season. He'll then sign a 3 year deal for $4 mil a year with someone and continue to be one of the most frustrating players in the league.

If this was Vlade's 2nd, or even 3rd year, I'd cut him some slack and say he deserves another chance. But after 5 years of this crap, I can't see him ever developing into more than what he is: Derrick McKey without the defense.

  11. I like this deal, and we'll probably like it more after the deadline. Sure sounds like Sund is working hard to dump the PF glut for a solid PG, somehow, someway.

I'm glad Radman is gone, though, tired of the bitching. As someone else said above, if it was 2 or 3 years into his career, I'd be good with giving him more time, but this is the 5th year? That's enough. He didn't want to be here, hell, he said no to $42 million? For a one-dimensional 3-pt shooter with no desire to ever do anything else?? Good-bye.

  12. Couldn't agree more, let the baby have his bottle. First wise decision from the Sonics in a while, and it seems mutual. Don't let the door frame hit you on the way out!

  13. Remember a few years ago when we could have traded the 12 and 14 picks + Radman for the Bosh pick? I wish we had a do-over, dammit!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yeah, I have a feeling Summerteeth might not be in Chris's CD collection (or Vladi's for that matter). It should be, though! Maybe we should send him one as a housewarming present.

  15. I don't get ESPN Insider, so I don't know what's going on, but ESPN has an Insider headline saying "Rashard Lewis braces for a trade." Anyone know the scoop?

    ReplyDelete
  16. read the article in the times or PI, about the Wilcox/Radmanovic trade. He's just saying he's pissed that management didn't inform him of the trade and he wouldn't be surprised if him or Ray were next.

  17. "Where's Diezel and Sonic ej on this bitch, and for that matter where is Myk???"

    I have no idea.

As it is, though, I'm glad that the Seattle Supersonics no longer have to deal with Vladimir Radmanovic.

  18. I'm guessing he would say, "Huh?"

    ReplyDelete
  19. I can't wait 'til he throws down some monster dunk in traffic, then KC can say "Wilco Assassins Down the Avenue."

    ReplyDelete
  20. I have no idea what you guys are talking about. Apparently, Wilco is some sort of musical ensemble? Do they play any Steve Miller Band songs?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Poor Nuss - he's stuck in Canada with Anne Murray and Corey Heart.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Canada sucks, it represents all that is wrong in this world today. When Spanish explorers first went to Canada they exclaimed "aca nada" which means "nothing there" and thats why it's called Canada.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Believe it or not, the story of where Canada got its name is even worse than the one you made up.

Apparently, a group of explorers misunderstood the native term "Canada" to mean nation, when in reality it meant "house." Rather than change the name of their country from "house", which it is, Canada left it alone. Because, really, it would be so much of a bother and we wouldn't want to offend the natives, and, geez, all those atlases have already been printed and we wouldn't want to upset anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  24. You know it's a slow news day when David Locke is slumming it here at the Soul.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm afraid you are quite wrong Mr. Nuss. I was watching Jeopardy one night and that very subject came up and the answer was what country got it's name from Spanish explorers arriving and stating "nothing there", the winning question was "what is Canada", I'm quite inclined to beleive Mr. Trebek (who is Canadian) and his staff over some internet dude.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Dou you honestly think the word "canada" came from a group of people who's words sounded like Kligkgit, Klickitat, Hoquaim, and Sequim? Don't be so "average white guy".

    ReplyDelete
  27. That's Mister internet dude to you, sir!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Also, Nussbaum's not white. He's light chocolate.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ok, whatever the hell you guys are talking about, my 2 cents though, I have to agree with Locke, Canada is not a Native North American Indigenous word.

Now let's get to some damn Sonics talk. Ok on this Point guard issue. Why are we looking for a backup when we need a starter??

Luke Ridnour is servicable at the 1, but in no way shape or form is he capable of taking an NBA team on a championship run. That is the goal, is it not?? I would love to see the Sonics do a trade involving Reggie, Luke, and Fortson where they can get a good point guard in return. Is Orlando Crazy enough to give up say Jameer Nelson and a draft pick for the above package? If so pull the fuckin trigger NOW!!! Please god get Luke out of here, we already got rid of a player who had hit his peak at a pretty mediocre spot now let's try and dump the other one.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Locke got it wrong (what a surprise)
    http://canadaonline.about.com/od/history/a/namecanada.htm

"The Iroquois pointing out the route to the village of Stadacona, the future site of Quebec City, used the word "kanata," the Huron-Iroquois word for village."

    But what do you expect from a guy that doesn't think Lewis is an overrated SOFT baby. Wanna know why he doesn't get calls? Even the refs know he's a softie ;-}

  33. Locke,

Why are you so obsessed with this damn over/under numbers crap that you're always talking about? It rarely is relevant and is an overall waste of time.

Rashard is soft, we all know this, it's Vin Baker's fault, he was a cancer to Rashard. When Rashard first got here he liked to dunk on people and he was pretty aggressive on the glass. But a few years with "the big Travesty" and he became what we see out on the court now. I knew that Vin ruined him when Rashard started bitchin' about GP being too "mean" to him. Kid you should be so lucky to have a player the calibre of GP yelling at you, that means he has taken an interest in you and cares about the development of your game. Gary was probably yelling "stop taking so many goddamn threes and go get in the post you big 6'10" wuss. And he had every right to, he was one of our best post players for years and he was a PG. Is there any way we could get GP to come back and "backup" Ridnour?

  34. I Love poop.

  35. The over/under stat machine, which is an original concept of my own design is the most revolutionary way to judge NBA talent ever. You wish you were me!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Here is what I have gathered so far...
Wilcox is a stud, Rashard is soft. Luke sucks. Reggie, Danny and Potapenko are useless. Vin Baker is a punk.
    GP is God...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yes I did, it took many long hours of going over every NBA teams statistics, but I finally came up with a revolutionary system that I now use on my showon KJR950AM

  38. My over/under #'s prove that Gary Payton was the worst player ever to don a Sonics uniform.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yeah some guy named Roland tried to stel my invention. I am currently embroiled in an intense law suit over this. Flip is the 2nd worst. But my ratings will show you that Olden Polynice was one of the greatest Sonic centers of all times.

    ReplyDelete
  40. That's Officer Polynice to you, dude!

  41. I'd like to thank Mr. Locke for helping double our average page hits today ... c'mon guys, we're almost to twenty!

  42. David Locke is a giant douche!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. DOUBLEDRIBBLE - If you are seriously agreeing with Locke about Payton being the worst Sonic ever you should be shot.

    b_con - don't forget Greg Anthony.

  44. Um do you clowns update this site ever? It's been the same damn topic for the last 3 days.
