The Memphis Grizzlies have three wins this season.
Two of them are against the Sonics.
In their continuing role as a cold and flu remedy for the bug-ridden members of the NBA, the Sonics got pummeled 125-108 in Memphis on Monday night. Delonte West led the Supes with 17 points, but 14 of those came in the 4th quarter when the game was far out of reach. The Grizzlies' guard tandems of Damon Stoudamire, Kyle Lowry, and Juan Carlos Navarro were too fast, too good, and too much for Earl Watson and West, and when you add in the Sonics lack of an interior presence, it was over before it started.
Thankfully, it's only one game. Unfortunately, the Sonics are now 2-10, and the flight home from Memphis must have been a doozy.
On a side note, last night's affair was graced with the presence of 10,863 Grizzly fans. Remind me again why it is the Sonics who are the poster child for the ills of this league?
It's good to see Sene log some minutes though. How I see it, there was no way we would get anywhere close to .500 even before the season started, so why not log more minutes for our "project" players such as Sene? When Bob Hill inserted Swift into the starting lineup a couple of years ago, I thought it paid great dividends to his development. It's a shame though how he's constantly plagued by injuries now.
ReplyDeleteAs long as those 10,863 Grizzly fans enjoyed a state of the art experience, that's all that matters.
ReplyDeleteAnd as long as the population of Memphis and surroundings could have had a state-of-the-art experience, if they really really wanted one and had been willing to pay $$$.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I don't know if any of you actually watched the game, but 10,863 is a joke...there were maybe 3,000 people actually at the game.
ReplyDeleteI've only seen the Supes a few times so far, but everytime, I see Earl Watson single-handedly killing the team... he can't score (but shoots too much) and can't play D.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to Durant working off of Wilcox and move without the ball, or find some spot-up looks. At least then we'd have a viable halfcourt offense.
