Thanks! Though I'd have to admit that Squatch can dunk better.
I was the last person to wear the "uniform" before they retired it. It was a fun but physically demanding summer job for a high school kid. I never got to work a game, but did public appearances -- including the Seafair Torchlight Parade w/Jack Sikma and Gerald Henderson. Gerald even took me out to lunch beforehand. He was so "normal" that it just felt like lunch with a co-worker. Only later did I experience the feelings of how cool that was.
I had filed away my Wheedle memories as just a part of my youth, but recent events have brought the memories back. I'm sad, but it makes me feel better to see all of the Sonics fans and to know that someone remembers The Wheedle!
As the daughter of the Wheedle creator, I am looking for any photographs you might have of this cuddly character. Please email me at info@j2jcreative.com. Thanks.
Julie, I knew you (through your Dad) whle still attending B.H.S. I responded once to this already, but haven't heard anything. As one said, sure the Squatch could dunk, but the asshole would be gasping for air just performing on the court in the cumbersome Wheedle attire. I miss your Dad, but occasionally hear from him. Hope you're doing well. Bobby Crosby Same one name @ hotmail.com

Wheedle kicks Squatch's butt any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was young I used to have nightmares about the Wheedle. Sort of like the clown from "It".
ReplyDeleteSmall ladies size...
I'll just have to lose several inches in height and many more in girth.
OMG. From the summer league:

Aw shoot they just corrected it. I liked the new team's name.
ReplyDeleteWhat was it?
ReplyDeleteSomeone made a typo calling them "Olahomo City".
ReplyDeleteFitting.
