Sonic Sons

You've no doubt heard about Shawn Kemp's son, Shawn Kemp Jr., developing into a high-level NCAA prospect. But you may not have heard about some other offspring of former Sonics. Here's a brief list:

Former Sonics’ Children

Corey Hawkins (Hersey’s son): 6’2” combo guard has agreed to play for Arizona State, where he will be teammates with …

Jamelle McMillan (Nate’s son): a 6’1” guard from O’Dea. McMillan started 16 games for ASU last year. ASU has also tentatively made an offer to Kendall Gill's daughter Gary Payton's goldfish.

Shawn Kemp Jr.: 6’9” forward has impressed scouts (he graduates in 2009), and has received offers from Kentucky, Bama, Georgia, Cincy, Ole Miss, UW, and Indiana.

Aaron Pierce (Ricky’s son): A special agent with the US Secret Service, assigned to the detail of guard President David Palmer.

Ashley Ellis (Dale’s daughter): Entering her second year at USC on the tennis team.

Sedale Threatt Jr.: After starring at Lehigh as a quarterback, Threatt has yet to latch on in the NFL or CFL.

Quintin Dailey: After being considered by Iowa State, Dailey has signed on to play with Sheridan College in Sheridan, Wyoming.

Bend It Like Bennett

I found this site a few weeks ago, but promptly lost/forgot the link before I had a chance to jot it down. Thankfully, deadspin.com was on the case and found it for me today. Behold: Bend It Like Bennett.

The author of the site, Claymate, claims to be from Oklahoma City, but, having read most of the site, I'd lean more towards a Pacific Northwest slant. There are plenty of good pieces to read, but I'll offer you two:

1. NBA puts OKC on the map. It's just so funny on so many levels.

2. PJ Carlesimo true facts. Among the list: "The chief export of PJ Carlesimo is losing." There are funnier ones, but they're a bit R-rated, so I'll let you find them for yourselves.

Bend It Like Bennett - definitely worth a look.

Over There

To hardcore followers of overseas basketball, this is far from news, but for those of us barely able to remember the player movements in our own country, I thought this might be interesting.

In addition to Shawn Kemp, there are quite a few other former NBA/NCAA "stars" (I use that word very loosely) currently residing in the Italian League's Serie A. Among them:

Dan Dickau – Air Avellino
Reece Gaines – Angelico Biella
Randolph Childress – Cimberio Varese
Brandon Jennings – Lottomattica
Tyus Edney - Upea Capo D'orlando
Jermaine Jackson - Snaidero Udine
Qyntel Woods – Upim Bologna
Joe Forte – Upim Bolonga

From what I understand, Upim Bologna is really counting on Forte to finally capitalize on his potential this season. This could be his break-out year.
