Sorry about the headline, I'm running low on creative juices today. If last night's game was somewhat winnable going in, tonight's is definitely so. The Magic have gone 2-2 thus far, with wins against the Bulls and Wizards, and losses to Philly and Atlanta.
The surprise story to me about Orlando is the strong start of Carlos Arroyo. The King of Puerto Rico has been dazzling for the Magic, easily compiling the best +/- numbers on the team and piling up 17 points in only 23 minutes. Conversely, Jameer Nelson has struggled, which means a change a the point could be coming.
It'll be interesting to see how Ridnour handles Arroyo in their matchups, or if Coach Hill opts to go with more minutes for Earl Watson in an attempt to contain the quick Arroyo.
Want a weird stat? Nobody on the Magic is averaging more than 3.5 assists a game. I don't know what it means, but it's weird, man.
Want another one? Carlos Arroyo is shooting 80% from 3-point range. Yeah, that's right, 80 per cent. I'm guessing that number may slide a little as the year progresses.
The Sonics will struggle a little in the second of a back-to-back, but I can see this being a winnable game. With the Magic favored by 7 points, it's a good bet.
Spread: Orlando -7
Pete's Pick: Seattle 105-Orlando 102
Record ATS: 1-2
Hey there Pete. My name is Pete too. Sonics need to get it done. We could be 4-0 right now, but we can't finish! The bench has been coming up huge. Guys like Collison, Watson, Fortson. And how bout Rashard? Sonics pull out a close one tonight
It's really frustrating, you're right, but, unfortunately, they don't list "almost wins" in the newspaper, just Ws and Ls.
Only time will tell with this team. Teams that are good but are getting bad breaks inevitably start winning games eventually. Teams that are mediocre and come close to winning a few times wind up being mediocre. The pessimist in me thinks the Sonics are more of #2 than #1. I hope the Sonics aren't a #2, but their complete and utter lack of defense so far has been a bad sign.
Sonics kicking 1st-half ass again... 49-42 with the 2nd half just underway.
Got to wonder what happened to Nick Collison on the plane flight to Florida. He was MIA for the first 3 games, but he's having his 2nd consecutive good game tonight. And big ups to Danny Fortson for another productive, short-minute night.
brutal way to lose after battling back. bad luck
I really think this team is better than our current record.
Wilcox needs to step up. Petro shouldn't have more attempts from the field.
And Ray can't be logging 42 minutes on a regular basis. I think at some point we're going to have to get a true backup SG.
Hey, PHO is 1-4, Dallas and Denver are winless. It's early.
Hedo fucking Turgolu...
I hate that shit. It's just like two years ago when Antoine Walker hit one from the corner to win a close one. If it was Wade or Iverson or Paul Pierce I'd be mad, but it would be like "Well, he's the man, and he hit it"
I just can't stand these mediocre players killing us. Its just like the fucking Mariners when they get no-hit over six innings by a guy the other team just called up from AAA.
How many of these games do we have to watch? I know a lot of it is random bad luck, but this is ridiculous.
anybody else notice that if fortson had played a full game he would have grabbed 20+ rebounds? of course, he would have fouled out in the 3rd quarter, but still .....
Thank God we're playing the Hawks next....oh, crap, they're 3-1 and are probably drooling at the chance to fatten up on the Sonics' 1-4 behind.
I LIVE ALL THE WAY IN NEW JERSEY I AM A HUGE RAY ALLEN AND SEATTLE SUPERSONICS FAN, I GOT SATELITE SERVICE JUST SO I WON'T MISS A SUPERSONICS GAME, BUT I MUST SAY I AM SO DAMN DISAPPOINTED IN THEM, WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE FOUTH QUARTER WITH THIS TEAM THERE IS NO REASON FOR A 1-4 RECORD, I DON'T CARE IF IT EARLY ON THEY HAVE TO PULL THEIR SHIT TOGETHER QUICK OR PLEASE TRADE RAY ALLEN AND RASHARD LEWIS TO A WINNING TEAM THE DESERVE IT,I FEEL LIKE DISCONNECTING MY SERVICE...
I can feel the darkness closing in again... I was not optimistic in the pre-season, nor after game 1. The next few games gave me hope, as we seemed to be pulling our shit together, just waiting for that lucky break. Hell, Fortsen is a changed man, things should be good. Now, things are looking bleak again. But yeah, it is still early, better teams than us are still winless... gotta keep the faith. It's just getting harder.
