Powell

The Sonics have said goodbye to 6'6" rookie forward Roger Powell. Powell really never entered into any of the discussions of guys who might make the roster. Those discussions have focused instead on the Cleaves-Brunson-Scales triumverate, or, as I like to call them "CleScaBrun" (give it a try, it just rolls of the tongue).

With 4 pre-season games left (including tonight in Phoenix), the situation will have to be cleared up within a week. Noel Felix will most likely be given his papers sometime soon, but at least one of the CleScaBrun will have to go as well, and Weiss and Co. are certainly playing it close to the vest.

Yeah, tough for the guy. I think he's been than Cleeves but I guess they prefer veteran scrubs over young scrubs.

On better news, Petro for president! here's a supersonics.com article about Petro looking like gold:

Petro starts and immediately gets 9 points and 5 boards with pretty solid defense. Geez this guy is just flat out better than Swift and its starting to look like this kid might be the favorite to start even.

19 years old at that. Note to the NBA: don't let 19 year old athletic 7 footers fall into the late 20s. Just don't. No matter how much you think they suck, just take them.

Tony Allen is decent, but I'd rather have Marcus Banks. That solves our backup PG problem and he could come in and lockdown many PGs.

Don't count Felix out. He is aggressive and very athletic. with some of the ability he has shown, and with contracts ending this year, I think that he can be a one-for-two kind of guy in the near future.
