Clash of the Not So Titans

Tonight's affair in Miami is sure to be one of the ugliest in recent memories. Two teams, one win between them, it's not exactly something that NBA TV is cuing up to record for posterity.

In Miami's lone win, they only managed to score 75 in a 3-point "win" over the hapless Knicks. In that game, the Heat shot 28% from beyond the arc, 55% from the line, and yet still came out of NYC with a victory. It will take that same kind of effort for Miami to knock off the even more hapless Sonics.

How bad are these two teams? So bad that the networks will have to run a parental advisory graphic before the game starts so that young children won't mistakenly view it. So bad that neither team is likely to crack 100 points, this despite the fact the Sonics' defense is indefensible.

Stop me, I'm starting to sound like Steve Kelley.

Really. I am.

In happier news, JA Adande of espn.com has a nice read about why the NBA should consider moving the Hornets to OKC and leave the Sonics the hell alone. It's walking on thin ice to suggest that sort of thing because of Katrina, but his argument has merit.

Pick for tonight: Heat 89-Sonics 83. Eyes gauged from Coral Gables to Puyallup.

Did you know?

Earl Watson ranks in the top ten in assists per game.

He was also a DNP for the last game of the homestand, and got off the bench for less than 20 minutes in the blowout loss to the Magic.

Looks like Luke is out for tonight, and the Sonics don't seem to be missing him at all 5-0 Sonics!

1-8 here we come!

Fine, I take it back. PJ should get a 6-year extension. Forgive me, I'm giddy with a Sonics lead right now.

Gulp. D-Wade just checked in. Maybe we should put the victory parade on hold.

Jeff Green is looking better and better as each game passes. Sweet dunk.

Everyone who had the Sonics with an 18-point lead in the first half, raise your hand. And if you had the Sonics shooting 71% beyond the arc, throw that hand up too.

Let's see if they can keep it up. Yeah, I'm not holding my breath, either.

Is this a typo on ESPN.com or are the Sonics really winning by 15 points with a minute left in the 3rd? Even if it is true, I'm sadly anticipating a 4th quarter meltdown with D Wade dropping about 20 in 12 minutes.

PJ sucks, worse move in Sonic History hiring him...

Worse than letting Clay Douchebag buy the team? Nope. I'd rather see them lose 82 straight games than root for the OKC Sonics

Ding, dong, the witch is dead!

Sonics win! Sonics win! Sure, the Heat suck royally, and only a 7-game winning streak will get us back to .500, but I'll take what I can get.

Of note: Chris Wilcox was +24 tonight.
