Well, it was back to the old ways last night for Ridnour/Watson, as Bob Hill went with Earl Watson for the fourth quarter (they actually played together for a couple of minutes mid-way through), and the Sonics came away with another win, despite an off-night from Sugar Ray.
What can you say about Chris Wilcox that hasn’t already been said? The guy has been flat-out amazing since his arrival in Seattle, and the only man more excited about his performance than us has to be his agent. For crying out loud, Wilcox has probably made his unborn grandchildren rich by his performance the past few weeks. After all, if Jerome James and Calvin Booth can get 5-year deals based on a week’s worth of average performances, how much does The Beast get for playing near-All Star-like for a couple of weeks?
For all the Ridnour-bashing of the past week, you have to give him credit for posting a strong +11 last night, for nailing all 8 of his FTs, and for dishing out 10 assists (his third double-digit performance in four games). Face it, people, the man can run an offense; if we could get him to trade places with Watson as he runs back on defense, we’d have one of the three best PGs in the league.
All in all, a stellar game for the Sonics.
"if we could get him to trade places with Watson as he runs back on defense, we’d have one of the three best PGs in the league."
Here's where basketball could borrow something from hockey. On-the-fly line changes. I can't say I've seen it in action in an actual hockey game, but it was pretty damn cool to switch lines in NHL 94 (Genesis). Just think--Luke would never have to play defense again!
I think one of those weird minor basketball leagues actually tried something like this, along with some oddball rules that addressed late-game fouling. Kooky.
Kudos to Luke.. He deserved the bashing after those inane comments and the total choke job in the 4th against the Kings. But boy was he fired up to redeem himself last night. 2 steals in the first, some sweet passes (that behind the back bounce pass on one of Wilcox's misses was especially sweet). I love having Luke to run our offense, I love having Watson to D-up in the 4th even more :).
I'm going to have to interject an 'I told y'all so' right here. I stated last monthh that Wilcox is the second coming of Shawn Kemp and the last week he has proven me right. I've been watchin him since he came out of Maryland, I watched him sit and be wasted on the Clips bench like the Blazers did with J. O'neal. Chris Wilcox is the muthafuckin man, when is the last time a 4 for the Sonics went for 30 and 14? That is beautiful. Sign this kid to a long term deal, and we're back. I love watching the Supes again, thanks Chris.
I picture of the Burger King dude on this site gives me the queebs.
That dude (the king) is the next Micheal Jordan.
More good news! Kemp wants to play again!
I don't care how many power forwards the Sonics have on the roster, there's always room for Shawn Kemp. Sign him, pick up GP in the offseason on a one-year MLE, and let's roll. Thanks for the link, c-dub.
I think that Wilcox just needed to get away from all those Dookies on the Clips (Brand, Maggette, Ewing -- even Mike D's son went there).
They were just keeping that old Terp down...
And by all means, bring Kemp back for the memories and the green dope. Just make sure isn't packing the marsupial pouch he had in Cleveland and Port-Vegas.
getting Kemp back on crack is the key. he was a beast on it. once he got off it, he started to eat and got fat. i think their should be a clause in his contract stipulating that he must stay on crack.
Bring Kemp back! They said he's lost 50 lbs. since he last played. Does that mean he can elevate again?? Chunk's bro, can you hook Kemp up with the stuff? Maybe that's why Calabro always described it as a "magic carpet," Kemp was always elevated. Crack kills but for Kemp it's his spinach.
On Kemp's behalf, fuck y'all. How come I never hear some shit about Nowitzki on crack, or Luke Ridnour on crack. Crack is a white mans drug y'all invented it, y'all brought it here, and y'all flooded our communities with it. I don't find it funny. Kemp was not on crack. He was a naturally gifted athlete who had hops like a Kangaroo. I know y'all wouldn't know nothin about that 'naturally gifted athlete' part but trust me, no drugs involved. Steve Nash is high on Meth at all times, that's the only reason that he has any ability at all.
Correction. Not crack... just the pure white stuff.
nope, crack. Do your research. Y'all rocked it up, in hollywood, easier and better to transport, y'all figured out how to take shit under the sink combine it and the smoke the shit, who are you kidding?
The whole thing about Nicaraguan Contras and the CIA creating the crack epidemic is fairly dubious. There was a well known Los Angeles drug dealer whos name slips my mind at the moment who seemed a major contributor to the drug trade, and I believe he was never stopped even though his actions were known. THAT is suspicious, but I've read the transcripts from the Senate Sub Committee hearing on this and the evidence doesn't point convincingly to the CIA being involved, if that is your accusation.
if i knew shit about Nowitzki, i'd say something...Ridnour is high alright, high on god...he's straight up a god boy. i've followed Kemp forever, AND I LOVED HIS GAME, it was just said that the dude did the stuff as well as create a nationwide litter of little Kemps across the U.S. ain't about no black/white B.S. - "y'all" must be implying that we, filipinos flew that into OUR communities where both, blacks, asians, and others of ethnic background reside...riiight.
